Do you want to be on top?

Usually, our mornings at home are pretty boring and lazy unless we have someplace to be. I’ve been known to plop Grumble in front of the tv with bowl of Cheerios and raisins and a sippy cup of water while I feed Auggie and/or browse the internets. This morning we had a little excitement. A photographer was coming into our house and setting up a mini-studio to take pictures of the kids. We’re so posh! But really it was just the company, Our 365 Portraits, that took the hospital portrait of Auggie coming over to take new pictures since I didn’t like the first ones.
The photographer set up a backdrop and lights and was pretty great in general. He didn’t get mad when Grumble kept asking him what he was doing or touching his camera equipment. I give him a gold star for being so nice to my son.
I got to dress Auggie up in two different outfits and take some pictures of her in just a diaper. Grumble also got to take photos with Auggie and in two different outfits. The kids were really well behaved and there was no crying at all. I did feel that there wasn’t enough variety in the poses for Audrey but I guess you can’t really do much with an almost 3 month old. Though I must say that Auggie and Grumble are very photogenic and maybe one of those pictures can be a decent head shot and I’ll get them into commericals and print ads and then they can be the breadwinners and I’ll be an overbearing stage mom or trying to live vicariously through them a la Dina Lohan.
It was really very nice to take pictures in the house and not in a crowded storefront in the mall. I can’t help but feel a little panicked at the mall with the crush of people and the ticking time bomb, aka Grumble. He has a really low tolerance for the mall now. Though I wish I had taken more time choosing blankets and toys to put in the pictures with the kids. One of the poses involved putting a blanket over Auggie’s head which I don’t really understand, but I wish I had picked solid color blanket instead of a distracting print. Next time they come I’ll be more prepared and will ask them to do different poses and see if they have different colored backgrounds.
I was too busy changing the kids and holding Auggie up to take pictures of the proceeding so you’ll just have to settle for an old picture.
