Now that Thanksgiving is over it’s time to start thinking about Christmas.  It’s the first time we’re going to celebrate Christmas at home so we have no Christmas decorations or stockings.  I’ve spent my evening trying to research decorations I can make with Grumble.  So far, I’ve found lots of things to print out and make shrinky dink ornaments with.  I think my tree will be covered in Wow, Wow Wubbzy, WALL-E, and dinosaur ornaments since those are the things that my son is really into now.  I also plan on making a clothespin wreath to display holiday cards and felt stockings and a tree skirt.  Hopefully, I will have enough time to make those and knit presents before Christmas.

Do you have any ideas of crafty things I can make with my 2 year old?

I hope everybody had a good holiday.  I had a great time today and am completely stuffed.  I got all stressed out about baking pies and getting the house ready for the feast that it took me awhile today to finally unwind.

I didn’t have to make the full meal I split the duties with my mom and older sister.  I was responsible for making pies, rolls, and hosting the meal.  My sister made the turkey, stuffing, and more pies. My mother made the asparagus and mashed potatoes.  The meal was pretty good but started late so we were starving by the time we sat down to eat.

I made a pecan pie, cherry pie, and a coconut custard pie.  They all turned out ok except I need to learn how to make better pie crust.  The crusts shrunk back I can’t flute very well.  They taste good and I think I’m going to go eat some now.

I am currently baking a cherry pie and I must watch it so I cannot write very much and make it by the deadline.  After I bake the cherry pie I am going to make a pecan pie and a coconut custard pie tomorrow morning.

Right now is the first time all day that I’ve been able to make pies.  So I’ve got to go.  More posting tomorow!

I’m squeezing this post in before it hits midnight and I miss a day!

Today I contemplated heavily medicating with liquor and valium and I wasn’t going to medicate myself.  Grumble’s routine was shot to hell today and he didn’t take a proper nap.  He just had a little catnap in the car and ran around like a crazy man the rest of the day until he went to bed.  Of course, he might have been a little wired from the bottle of diet Snapple Ice tea that I let him have.  Yes, yes, bad decision but there are some things that I will do just to get a little peace.

Grumble’s cousin came over to the house today and he was so excited to play with him.  The cousin is 5 and Grumble adores him.  He’ll run after and do pretty much anything with him except share toys.  They get along pretty well and Grumble was devastated with his cousin left.  He just broke down crying and wouldn’t stop until I gave him a Christmas present that came in the mail today.  That calmed him down for a little while but he was a terror at dinner and refused to eat anything except corn on the cob and watermelon.
